Alumnus Kopetsky named healthcare CIO of the year

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society have named University of Wisconsin-Madison alumnus Ed Kopetsky (BSIE ’78, MSIE ’81) their 2018 John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year.

Kopetsky is chief information officer for Stanford Children’s Health, which has received numerous accolades for being an industry leader in health information technology under his leadership. Kopetsky received a Distinguished Achievement Award from the College of Engineering in 2014.

“Throughout my career, I have had the great fortune to develop and work with talented teams and learn from health care leaders in both provider and industry settings,” says Kopetsky, who chairs the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering’s advisory board. “I am honored to have been nominated, and to have CHIME and HIMSS select me for this award. It is truly a reflection of the great leaders I work with and the achievements and innovation we are advancing at Stanford Children’s Health.”
