WARF Innovates finalists are testing the strength of soft materials

Eriten and Henak have developed a method for testing the mechanical and failure properties of soft materials using a non-contact, portable vibrometer that measures acoustic emissions. This can enable more accurate measurements in medicine, bioengineering, and food. Hear from the researchers about their product and the impact it can have via WARF’s video highlight.

The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) receives hundreds of new invention disclosures each year and the finalists are selected based on potential for high long-term impact, presenting an exciting solution to a known important problem, and the opportunity to produce broad benefits for humankind. There are six finalists this fall and each of the two Innovation Award winners will receive $10,000, split among UW inventors.
