Associate Professor Laura Albert and Professor Vicki Bier of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering each captured awards at the 2018 INFORMS annual meeting Nov. 4-7 in Phoenix.

Albert and a group of collaborators won the Impact Prize for their work in transportation security. The award is given once every two years “to recognize widespread impact in the practice of operations research.”

Bier was named an INFORMS fellow for her contributions to Decision Analysis, a peer-reviewed journal.

INFORMS, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, is an international association with more than 12,500 members worldwide.
