June 29, 2018 ASTM International awards top honor to Edil Written By: Staff Departments: Civil & Environmental Engineering Categories: Awards Global standards organization ASTM International has presented its prestigious Award of Merit to Tuncer Edil, a professor emeritus of civil and environmental engineering and geological engineering. ASTM International’s Committee on Soil and Rock honored Edil with its top annual award in recognition of his long and distinguished service, publications and research. The award, established in 1949 and the organization’s highest recognition for individual contributions to developing standards, carries with it the title of fellow. Edil has been a member of ASTM International since 1984 and has previously won its Technical Editors Award, Special Service Award, Standards Development Award and Woodland G. Shockley Award.
