May 16, 2023 Chu Ma wins young investigator travel award Written By: Jason Daley Departments: Electrical & Computer Engineering Categories: Awards|Faculty|Research|Students ECE assistant professor Chu Ma and four of her students attended the 184th Acoustical Society of America Meeting in Chicago in early May, 2023. Ma chaired a special session titled “Interaction of EM waves with acoustic waves” and gave an invited talk. She also received the highly selective Women in Acoustics Young Investigator Travel Award, which covers expenses for presenting a paper at the next Acoustical Society meeting. PhD student Audrey Evans, co-advised by Ma and Philip Dunham Reed Professor and ECE department chair Susan Hagness, also gave an invited talk on thermoacoustic signals generated from pulsed microwave ablation in liver tissue. PhD student Jinuan Lin, advised by Ma, gave a contributed talk on ultrasonic subwavelength imaging with blind structured illumination and also presented a poster. PhD student Dajun Zhang and master’s student Michael Wang also attended the meeting.
