August 15, 2025 College welcomes Georgia Tech expert to leadership team Written By: Staff On Sept. 1, 2025, Lula Baker, chief of staff in the Woodruff School at the Georgia Institute of Technology, will be joining the College of Engineering as chief strategy officer. In this role, she will be a senior adviser to Grainger Dean of the College of Engineering Devesh Ranjan, coordinate strategic initiatives, represent the dean’s office as needed, and oversee the development of strategies and applications for the college. She will also serve on the college’s executive leadership team and senior leadership team, helping to guide administrative and operational priorities. At Georgia Tech, Baker worked closely with Ranjan (in his former role as school chair) in advancing initiatives throughout the school, including topics in organizational planning, administration, staff/faculty support, and management of strategic activities. She brings extensive experience in project management and strategic planning and execution, which will support the college’s work to advance its mission and goals. Also at Georgia Tech, Baker was a founding member of the Staff Happiness and Organizational Effectiveness (SHOE) Cabinet. She helped create an inclusive environment in which staff members felt valued and were enabled to reach their potential. We are excited to welcome Baker to the College of Engineering and look forward to her contributions in helping the college strengthen its strategic direction and its ability to serve our students, staff, faculty and partners.
