Madison 365 has named Dadit Gunarwanto Hidayat, who directs WiscAMP, the Wisconsin Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation at UW-Madison, to its 2025 list of the 20 most influential Asian-American leaders in Wisconsin.

WiscAMP is statewide initiative to broaden participation in STEM education through collaboration with 18 higher education institutions across Wisconsin.

A first-generation immigrant from Indonesia, Hidayat bridges academia and grassroots advocacy through interdisciplinary, community-based research. For nearly two decades, he has led civic engagement and research partnerships connecting UW-Madison with smaller cities and urban communities including Monona, Madison, Milwaukee and La Crosse. Hidayat earned his PhD in environment and resources in 2018 through the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at UW-Madison, and his master’s degree in 2006 in urban and regional planning. He received his bachelor’s degree in 1999 from the Universitas Gadjah Mada, Arsitektur, Indonesia.
