October 6, 2023 Del Pia adds another INFORMS honor Written By: Tom Ziemer Departments: Industrial & Systems Engineering Categories: Awards|Faculty Alberto Del Pia, an associate professor of industrial and systems engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has earned the 2023 INFORMS Computing Society Prize for a series of papers at the intersection of operations research and computer science. Del Pia will accept the award along with coauthor and collaborator Aida Khajavirad, an assistant professor at Lehigh University, at the 2023 INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences) Annual Meeting, which is set for Oct. 15-18 in Phoenix. Their award-winning collection of papers appeared in the journals Mathematical Programming, Mathematics of Operations Research, SIAM Journal on Optimization and Mathematical Programming Computation. Del Pia will also receive the 2023 Egon Balas Prize at the INFORMS Annual Meeting.
