ECE Focus on Faculty: Mikko Lipasti

Mikko Lipasti is a Philip Dunham Reed Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. An accomplished researcher in the field of computer systems and architecture, Lipasti leads the Predictive High-Performance Architecture Research Mavens (PHARM) research team. Lipasti and his students explore new ways of improving the efficiency of computing systems by investigating how the human brain processes information efficiently.

In addition to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Lipasti also holds an affiliation with the Department of Computer Sciences. He was a 2001 NSF CAREER Award recipient and in 2013 was named an IEEE Fellow.
