June 24, 2025 Huang receives 2025 DAC Under-40 Innovators Award Written By: Jason Daley Departments: Electrical & Computer Engineering Categories: Awards|Faculty Tsung-Wei Huang, an assistant professor in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is one of five engineers selected for the 2025 Design Innovation Conference (DAC) Under-40 Innovators Award. The prestigious award recognizes innovators under the age of 40 considered “movers and shakers” in the field of design and automation of electronics. Huang and his fellow recipients were recognized at an awards session held on June 23, 2025, at the DAC conference held in San Francisco, California. Huang was selected for his contributions to accelerating computer aided design using GPUs. His primary research involves developing software systems to simplify the building of performance-critical applications, such as design automation, machine learning, and quantum computing. These systems are being used by thousands of people in industry and academia. Beyond this award, Huang’s research has been recognized through an NSF CAREER Award, Humboldt Research Fellowship, ACM SIGDA Outstanding New Faculty Award, and an ICCAD 10-year Most Influential Paper Award. DAC is recognized as the global event for chips to systems and offers training, education, exhibits and networking opportunities for designers, researchers, tool developers and vendors. The conference is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and is supported by ACM’s Special Interest Group on Design Automation (SIGDA) and IEEE’s Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA).
