Jiamian Hu selected for American Ceramic Society young scholar award

Materials Science and Engineering Assistant Professor Jiamian Hu is the recipient of the 2022 Robert L. Coble Award for Young Scholars from the American Ceramic Society (ACerS). The award recognizes an outstanding scientist conducting research in the field of ceramics in academia, industry or a government funded laboratory who is 35 years of age or younger.

Hu’s computational research focuses on mesoscale modeling of ferroic (magnetic, ferroelectric, and multiferroic) materials and devices as well as microstructure informatics.

He is a Grainger Institute for Engineering fellow, a winner of the 2021 Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation Innovation Award and was named a 2021 UW-Madison Vilas Associate. He has authored and co-authored 78 articles in peer-reviewed journals and holds four U.S. Patents.

The Coble award will be presented at the ACerS annual meeting in Pittsburgh in October 2022.
