April 27, 2022 Kris Dressler Rocks Dresslerfest Written By: Caitlin Scott Departments: Mechanical Engineering Categories: Faculty Mechanical Engineering hosted a very special lecture event – Dresslerfest – on Tuesday, April 26th. Kris Dressler is an Assistant Teaching Professor in ME and was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma (GDM) in fall 2021. At the Dresslerfest event, he shared insights from his re-evaluation of life with engineering students and engineering grads. The future, especially Dress’ future in Mechanical Engineering, is uncertain. Engineers don’t plan on things going right, but the engineering community is grateful for a very entertaining evening with a guy who asks really good questions. At the end of the event, ME Department Chair Darryl Thelen announced the new Kris Dressler STAR Scholarship Fund. It is Strategic Targeted Achievement Recognition (STAR) funding that will be awarded to exceptional engineering undergraduates beginning in fall 2022. Donations are being matched dollar for dollar by the Grainger Foundation. Contribute here: supportuw.org/giveto/dresslerscholars Watch the lecture recording here.
