May 16, 2024 Liu earns quality award Written By: Tom Ziemer Departments: Industrial & Systems Engineering Categories: Awards|Faculty Kaibo Liu, a professor of industrial and systems engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has received the Hromi Medal from the American Society for Quality. The medal, which the society has awarded since 2017, is given to an honoree for making “significant and noteworthy contributions to the science of inspection and/or the advancement of the inspection profession.” Liu applies data science methods to industry-relevant questions in manufacturing systems, nuclear power plants and more. The society honored him “for advanced, adaptive inspection and statistical process control for big data streams; and for innovative methods to quickly detect and localize anomalies by inspecting data streams in spatial domain.”
