November 1, 2024 Mechanical Engineering awards $1 million in scholarships Written By: Caitlin Scott Departments: Mechanical Engineering Categories: Students|Undergraduate We have a new record in the mechanical engineering and engineering mechanics programs this fall: nearly 300 undergraduate students officially received over $1 million in scholarship support from ME and the College of Engineering! This is a $160,000 increase over last year’s total and is the most our department has given out in the history of our program. At the scholarship night event on October 17th, Mechanical Engineering & Engineering Mechanics students, their families and friends, and some of the donors who make it all possible gathered to celebrate. Special guests included John Nelson and Doug Reindl representing the Douglas T. Reindl Scholarship, Burzoe Ghandhi, Jamshed Ghandhi, and Jaal Ghandhi representing the Nancy F. Ghandhi Women in Mechanical Engineering Scholarship, Leslie Dressler and Andy & Beth Konieczka representing the Kris Dressler STAR Scholarship, Kathy & Alan Muirhead representing the Gary and Marlene Borman Scholarship and the Uyehara-Myers Scholarship, Susan and Tim LeBrun representing the Evelyn Kullerstrand Women & Diversity Scholarship, Sally & Al Ferguson representing the Richard T. & Kathryn S. Voelz Scholarship, and Stuart Brotz representing the Rodney R. Brotz Memorial Scholarship. We are grateful to everyone involved in our scholarship processes, especially the many donors, past and present, who were unable to be with us in person. Additional thanks to the student speakers from Wisconsin Space Program (WiSP), Badger Solar Racing, Women in Mechanical Engineering, and the Faustin-Prinz Undergraduate Research Fellowship who took the time to share about their experiences.
