February 11, 2019 Morgan honored for innovative teaching Written By: Staff Categories: Awards Dane Morgan, Harvey D. Spangler Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, received the 2019 Harvey Spangler Award for Technology Enhanced Instruction from the College of Engineering in recognition of his ongoing commitment to undergraduate research education through the Informatics Skunkworks. The award honors faculty who use technology to enhance the learning experience for students, which has been one of Morgan’s signature goals as the faculty advisor for the Informatics Skunkworks. Established in 2015, the skunkworks provides undergraduates the opportunity to engage in project-based research on informatics for science and engineering, while learning advanced data science and machine learning skills.
