Jinlong Wu will join the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2022!
Wu’s area of expertise mainly focuses on data-driven modeling of dynamical systems using machine learning and Bayesian inference, with applications in computational fluid dynamics across a wide range of scales. In coming to Wisconsin, Wu plans to develop a research program of building reliable data-driven models for complex engineering systems, which will address three key challenges (predictive capability, uncertainty, interpretability) for using machine learning to solve real-world engineering applications.
Wu completed his PhD in Aerospace Engineering at Virginia Tech in September 2018 and is currently a research scientist at the California Institute of Technology.
