June 15, 2022 New Mechanical Engineering Faculty: Luca Mastropasqua Written By: Caitlin Scott Departments: Mechanical Engineering Categories: Faculty Luca Mastropasqua will join the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an Assistant Professor in January 2023! Mastropasqua’s research focuses on the conceptualization of new electrochemical devices and their integration into energy conversion and industrial processes. His expertise includes high temperature electrochemical systems for high efficiency and low carbon energy conversion and storage, mostly based on solid oxide and molten salts electrolyte cells. Mastropasqua earned his PhD in Energy and Nuclear Science and Technology from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in October 2017. He is currently an Assistant Researcher within the Advanced Power and Energy Program and the National Fuel Cell Research Center at the University of California, Irvine
