Incoming Assistant Professor Prateek Jaiswal

Prateek Jaiswal will join the Department of Mechanical Engineering as an Assistant Professor in November 2024!

Jaiswal will establish the Experimental Fluid Mechanics Lab at UW-Madison. His research group will focus on the sustainable development of modern transportation and energy systems. The overarching question his research group seeks to answer is how the structure of turbulent shear flows dictates drag, noise, and their propagation. Jaiswal’s lab seeks to reduce the noise and carbon footprint of modern transportation and energy systems while improving reliability issues linked to flow-induced vibration. In the long term, his group aims to develop tools to help future generations of engineers and scientists solve practical problems of tomorrow.

Jaiswal earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Université de Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada in 2020. He is currently a research fellow at the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.
