Sarlioglu receives IEEE PES Electromechanical Energy Conversion Award

Bulent Sarlioglu, the Jean van Bladel Associate Professor in electrical and computer engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is the recipient of the 2021 Cyril Veinott Electromechanical Energy Conversion Award from the IEEE Power & Energy Society.

The award recognizes a Power & Energy Society member who has demonstrated career dedication to the electric power engineering profession and made contributions to the development, design, analysis or manufacturing of electromechanical energy conversion systems or devices.

Sarlioglu was cited for “contributions to the design, development, and manufacturing of electric motors and drives for industrial and aerospace applications.”

His research focuses on the analysis, modeling, simulation and prototyping of electrical machines and circuits to optimize properties including efficiency, power density, weight and volume. He has a special interest in adapting new materials and techniques in power electronics and electrical machine design.

The award will be presented at the IEEE Power & Energy Society’s virtual General Meeting held July 21-25, 2021.
