The citation recognizes Shedd’s outstanding fundamental contributions to the science and art of two-phase flow, two-phase heat transfer and electronic cooling through his research. “He has communicated his accomplishments to the ASHRAE and engineering communities through his many publications and presentations,” the citation says. “He has demonstrated educational leadership through graduate student advising and mentoring. Most recently, he has established a company to produce a novel cooling technique for effective thermal management of electrical devices in data centers, medical instrumentation, and vehicles.”
