August 13, 2025 Suri shares QRM story in top journal Written By: Staff Departments: Industrial & Systems Engineering Categories: Faculty|Research Rajan Suri, professor emeritus of industrial and systems engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who first developed the quick response manufacturing (QRM) strategy, has published an article outlining the history of QRM and showcasing some of its success stories. The article appears in the Journal of Operations Management outlines, considered one of the top journals in the operations management field. Suri founded and led the QRM Center, housed within the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, for 15 years. One case study in the article features the center’s work with local manufacturer RenewAire of Waunakee, Wisconsin. The QRM Center’s work with RenewAire was one example of roughly 400 projects the center undertook with partner companies. The article also includes commentaries from three researchers: Tyson Browning, professor of operations management at Texas Christian University; Suzanne de Treville, professor emeritus of operations management at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland); and Roger Schmenner, professor emeritus of operations management at Indiana University.
