Mechanical Engineering Professor Mario Trujillo has been recognized by ILASS-Americas with the Marshall Award!

Prof. Trujillo’s paper, “Examining the Underlying Equations of Two-Phase Flow,” has been recognized as the best overall conference paper based on its significance to the field and strength of the technical content. Notably, the work explored in this paper was mostly done without funding since it was considered too fundamental and lacking in specific deliverables and tangible objectives. Nevertheless, it gained significant recognition from the scientific community.

The Marshall Award is named in honor of W. Robert Marshall, who had a 40-year career on the UW-Madison faculty, starting in 1947. Bob Marshall was world renowned for his research in atomization and spray drying and he served as Director and President of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.

The 2023 ILASS-Americas conference took place this month in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Prof. Trujillo received the award.
