July 2, 2025 UW-Madison spinoff Saturn Agrisense among finalists in Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest Written By: Adam Malecek Departments: Electrical & Computer Engineering|Mechanical Engineering Categories: Awards|Faculty Saturn Agrisense, a University of Wisconsin-Madison spinoff company based on technology created by Joseph Andrews, the Alfred Fritz Assistant Professor of mechanical engineering and electrical and computer engineering, won third place in the advanced manufacturing category at the Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest in June 2025. Saturn Agrisense was among 13 “Diligent (Baker’s) Dozen” finalists to present to judges and others during the annual Wisconsin Entrepreneurs’ Conference. The Madison-based company has developed a sensing system that provides real-time, continuous monitoring of soil tension and nitrate, enabling the future of precision digital decisions on nutrient management practices.
