Douglas Wiegmann, an associate professor of industrial and systems engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has earned an award from a division of the American Psychological Association (APA) in recognition of his work in human factors engineering.

APA’s Division 21, which includes applied experimental and engineering psychology researchers and practitioners, will honor Wiegmann with its Franklin V. Taylor Award at the 2023 APA Convention in Washington, D.C.

Wiegmann has conducted root cause analysis to improve safety in industries such as commercial aviation and aerospace, as well as to bolster patient safety in healthcare settings.
