July 7, 2025 Wisconsin Baja Racing 2025 SAE Competition Written By: Kassi Akers Departments: Mechanical Engineering Categories: Students|Undergraduate Wisconsin Baja Racing placed 7th overall, out of 107 teams, in the Baja SAE Competition in Mechanicsville, Maryland in June. With teams from all over the world, the off-road motorsport team is proud of their placement and all the progress they made this past year. According to Cale Kubisiak, the club’s president and Mechanical Engineering B.S. Spring 2025 graduate, the team set out with a goal of doing better in the maneuverability category by being able to disconnect the belt drive to the front wheels. Not only did they achieve this goal, but they placed 16th in the maneuverability category, up from their 27th placement one year ago. Other highlights/results from the competition include: Level of preparedness for the technical inspection, as well as the design presentation Efficiently replacing a suspension arm that broke during the 4-hour endurance race to get the car back out on the track Skilled driving by their experience driver who navigated the track’s jumps and obstacles and passed other teams to end the race in 8th place Receiving:6th place in Suspension and Traction17th in Hill Climb15th in Acceleration18th in Design 13th in Cost Hear more about the team’s dynamic experience on their LinkedIn page.
