August 20, 2024 Zayas-Cabán promoted to associate professor Written By: Casandra Zimmerman Departments: Industrial & Systems Engineering Categories: Faculty|Research|Teaching In recognition of his sizable contributions in research, teaching and mentoring, University of Wisconsin-Madison Industrial and Systems engineering faculty member, Gabriel Zayas-Cabán, has been promoted to associate professor, a tenured position. Dr. Zayas-Cabán is a highly accomplished researcher in healthcare delivery, with a focus on stochastic modeling, optimization, and causal inference. His research has been recognized with two prestigious NSF awards, focusing on optimization of patient transitions from hospital settings, and the disruption of opioid supply chains through policing. His most recent work has contributed to improving emergency department admission decisions. Prof. Zayas-Cabán has served as a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Michigan. He is the recipient of an ICTR KL2 Career Development Award and has additional funding from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJ) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
