Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering
Grainger Institute for Engineering Faculty Scholar

My research focuses on the mathematical and computational modeling of emergent phenomena in materials that are driven by mechanics and multiphysics. Microstructural evolution, patterning processes and bifurcations are of particular interest.

This work draws heavily from continuum physics, solid mechanics, thermodynamics, variational methods, FEM and HPC. Broadly, it involves developing phenomenological descriptions of constituent processes, numerical formulation of the governing equations and developing scalable code infrastructure.
