Shuo Sun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research lies at the intersection of operations research, supply chain and revenue management, and machine learning. She develops optimization models and computationally efficient algorithms for decision-making under uncertainty, with particular interests in supply chain management, retail and platform operations, and data-driven decision-making. Her research aims to develop methods that address important real-world operational problems while remaining grounded in rigorous theory. Her research on AI-driven integrated warehouse assortment planning and inventory allocation at JD.com was recognized with the 2024 INFORMS Daniel H. Wagner Prize.
She received her Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of California, Berkeley. Before that, she received her B.E. in Industrial Engineering from Tsinghua University.
