XR technologies have the potential to radically change our world. This talk will dive into the synergies between the digital and physical worlds, exploring the potential application areas including crime scene investigation, cultural heritage and health in the home. The talk will look at how XR technologies can provide support of a variety of tasks, making them easier, faster and more reliable. Finally, the talk will explore how these emerging technologies might be utilized to create a positive impact on people’s everyday lives.
Bio: Kevin Ponto is an Associate Professor at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery and in the Design Studies Department in the School of Human Ecology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Kevin received a PhD in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego, a MS in Arts Computation Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Kevin’s research revolves around the interface between the physical and digital worlds.
