September 4, 2018 Carayon wins award for ergonomics leadership Written By: Staff Departments: Industrial & Systems Engineering Categories: Awards The International Ergonomics Association (IEA) recently recognized Pascale Carayon, the Procter and Gamble Bascom Professor in Total Quality in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, for her contributions to the field of applied ergonomics. The organization honored Carayon with the IEA/Elsevier John Wilson Award for Applied Ergonomics at its triennial congress in Florence, Italy. Carayon is the second recipient of the honor, which is given every three years and includes a monetary award of $5,000. In particular, the IEA lauded Carayon for the development and application of the Systems Engineering Initiative for Patient Safety model.
