Dimitris Papailiopoulos earns Sony innovation award

Sony, the multinational electronics, entertainment and financial services corporation, honored Electrical and Computer Engineering Assistant Professor Dimitris Papailiopoulos with a faculty innovation award for distributed deep learning. The award is designed to accelerate and expand the creation of new ideas so that Sony can partner with universities to advance its technology across a diverse array of categories. Papailiopoulos’ research draws from machine learning, coding theory and distributed systems, which are computer networks with many separate components that interact to accomplish a common goal.
