Zavala recognized for computing and systems technology research

AIChE, the world’s leading organization for chemical engineering professionals, honored Victor Zavala, the Baldovin-DaPra Associate Professor in chemical and biological engineering, with the 2019 computing and systems technology division (CAST) outstanding young researcher award. The distinction honors exceptional scientists under age 40 who have made substantial contributions to the chemical engineering computing and systems technology literature. Zavala, an innovative researcher who develops optimization models and decision algorithms for wide-ranging applications including renewable energy, agricultural systems and detecting airborne contaminants, will receive the prize and a commemorative plaque during the 2019 AIChE annual meeting.
