Twelve students from the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering have earned National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships, one of the most prestigious fellowships for graduate research in the country.

Eleven current graduate students received the awards, which provides three years of financial support for graduate school. They are:

  • Fernando Acosta-Pérez, Industrial Engineering
  • Vanessa Barton, Mechanical Engineering
  • Jennifer Bui, Electrical & Computer Engineering
  • Brandon Cortez, Electrical & Computer Engineering
  • Savannah Finley, Environmental Chemistry & Technology (program in Civil & Environmental Engineering)
  • Sara Hartke, Civil & Environmental Engineering
  • Carlos Huang-Zhu, Chemical Engineering
  • Megan Kelly, Chemical Engineering
  • Elvis Umana, Chemical Engineering
  • James Unzaga, Materials Science and Engineering
  • Rayne Wolf, Industrial Engineering

In addition, undergraduate Rung Shih, a chemical engineering major, received the award.

Overall, 52 UW-Madison students received NSF GRFP awards.
