Connecting academia to industry

Grainger Dean of the College of Engineering Ian Robertson, left, talks with chemical engineering alumnus Bill Monfre

On Thursday, May 30, during the University of Wisconsin 175th Anniversary state tour stop in Appleton, the College of Engineering hosted “The College of Engineering: Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond.” This event featured an inspiring keynote on sustainable energy innovation by Oliver Schmitz, director of the Grainger Institute for Engineering and professor of nuclear engineering and engineering physics, alongside JP Brummond (vice president of operations at Alliant Energy and a UW-Madison chemical engineering alumnus) and Dave Vasko (a retired Rockwell Automation executive).

We were thrilled to see representatives from top corporations like Findorff, Oshkosh Corporation and Werner Electric in attendance. Their engagement and eagerness to collaborate with UW-Madison experts and leaders in sustainable energy underscore the powerful synergy between academia and industry.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and to UW E-Business Consortium for its invaluable partnership!
