Anna Rosu Receives Sophomore Research Fellowship

Written By: Aubrey Ugorowski

The Materials Science and Engineering Department is proud to celebrate rising sophomore Anna Rosu, who has been awarded the Sophomore Research Fellowship for the 2025-26 academic year. The campus-wide fellowship provides $3,000 to the student and $500 to the faculty advisor to support early undergraduate research.

Rosu received the award for her project, Crystalline Properties and Ion Transport in POEM5/POEM20 Random Co-Polymer Electrolytes, under the mentorship of Conway Assistant Professor Whitney Loo. She plans to expand her work in materials science, with a particular interest in developing polymer-based strategies to improve energy storage. Outside the lab, she enjoys running, hiking, reading, cycling and baking.

Rosu’s commitment to research and academic excellence reflects the strength of the department’s undergraduate community and highlights the impact of early research engagement.
