September 11, 2024 Capstone design courses: Transforming ECE students into Badger engineers Written By: Allyson Crowley Departments: Electrical & Computer Engineering Categories: Students|Teaching|Undergraduate Follow along as Badger student teams prepare and present design projects for the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Capstone Design Open House. Capstone Design courses are a vital component of the ECE curriculum at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, offering students an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills gained throughout their academic journey to projects of their own invention. These courses serve as a bridge between theoretical learning and practical application, challenging students to solve complex engineering problems. By working on peer teams, students develop critical skills such as project management, teamwork, and communication, all while designing and implementing innovative solutions. The hands-on experience provided by Capstone Design courses not only prepares students for their professional careers but also fosters creativity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of engineering principles.
