April 27, 2026 Crone awarded Society of Experimental Mechanics 2026 Murray Medal Written By: Lili Sarajian Departments: Mechanical Engineering|Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics Categories: Awards|Faculty Wendy Crone has been selected by the Society for Experimental Mechanics to receive the 2026 Murray Medal and to deliver the 2026 Murray Lecture. Crone is the Karen Thompson Medhi Professor Emeritus in the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics and the Department of Mechanical Engineering in the University of Wisconsin–Madison College of Engineering. This award recognizes Crone for the outstanding application of her technical expertise in solid mechanics, nanotechnology, and biotechnology to the development of medical devices that advance the human experience, as well as her notable contributions to the field of experimental mechanics. “It is a great honor to be receiving the Murray Medal,” says Crone. “The Society has been like an extended family to me throughout my career.” Crone will receive the medal after presenting the Murray Lecture this June 2026 during the Society for Experimental Mechanics Conference and Exposition.
