Matt Malloy, a teaching professor in electrical and computer engineering, won a best paper prize at the world’s leading workshop on advances in artificial intelligence for computational advertising, an international meeting called AdKDD, held Aug. 5, 2019, in Anchorage, Alaska. Prior to joining ECE, Malloy developed some crucial tools for delivering targeted online advertisements to the ideal audiences. His winning paper, titled “Graphing crumbling cookies,” explains strategies to overcome incognito browsers and tracking blockers in order to reconstruct people’s internet histories across multiple devices.
