April 17, 2023 Hai lab adds MRI machine with DURIP grant Written By: Tom Ziemer Departments: Biomedical Engineering Categories: Grants|Research Aviad Hai, an assistant professor of biomedical engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has used a Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) grant from the Office of Naval Research to install a new MRI machine in his lab. Hai’s group develops minimally invasive electrodes for recording brain activity and stimulating the nervous system as part of neuromodulation therapies. The new machine will allow the team to advance its work, which is applicable to both neurodegenerative disease and traumatic brain injury. DURIP grants fund university research infrastructure for cutting-edge work.
