Elfers Professor in chemical and biological engineering, received the Gabor A. Somorjai Award for Creative Research in Catalysis from the American Chemical Society. The honor recognizes outstanding theoretical, experimental or developmental research that advances understanding or enhances applications for the catalysis field. Mavrikakis, an expert in computational modeling to investigate atomic interactions on catalyst surfaces, will receive a certificate of achievement and a $5,000 honorarium on April 2, 2019, in conjunction with the 257th American Chemical Society National Meeting in Orlando.
