April 7, 2026 NEEP ranked #3 among nuclear engineering programs in the U.S. Written By: Lili Sarajian Departments: Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics The Department of Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics in the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering tied for #3 among nuclear engineering programs in the nation in the 2026 edition of the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Nuclear Engineering Programs. “We are proud to be recognized as one of the top nuclear engineering programs in the nation,” says Paul Wilson, Grainger Professor of Nuclear Engineering and chair of the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics. “Our collaborative research community has attracted new top faculty that have expanded our research footprint and allowed us to serve our growing class sizes with the same commitment to educational excellence.” With the recent addition of two new faculty members and five more expected in the coming year, our research portfolio continues to expand in exciting ways. This growth is well-timed with the increase in our undergraduate class sizes, as we strive to support each individual student in their academic and professional development.
