Sridharan named fellow of ANS

Kumar Sridharan, professor of nuclear engineering and engineering physics and materials science and engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has been elected to fellow of the American Nuclear Society (ANS). Fellow is the organization’s highest membership status.

ANS recognized Sridharan for his major research contributions in materials corrosion and degradation processes in nuclear energy systems, and for impact on the nuclear industry through the development of improved fuel cladding concepts as well as education and mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students.

The society will present the award to Sridharan at the ANS Virtual Annual Meeting on June 8, 2020. ANS is the premier organization for those that embrace the nuclear sciences and technologies for their vital contributions to improving people’s lives and preserving the planet. Its more than 10,000 members, from more than 40 countries, come from diverse technical disciplines ranging from physics and nuclear safety to operations and power, and represent government, academia, research laboratories and private industry.
