Andrea Strzelec, director of the Master of Engineering in Engine Systems (MEES) and Polymer Engineering (MEPE) programs in the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering, has been selected as a SAE Fellow.

The SAE Fellow membership designation is awarded to an elite group of professionals who have made a significant impact on the mobility industry through leadership, research, publishing, innovation and volunteering. Election to Fellow is an exceptional professional distinction bestowed to a class of approximately 20 SAE members each year.

Strzelec has had a significant impact on the advancement of the understanding of fuel effects on combustion, emissions, and aftertreatment, through leadership in research, education, and exemplary service and leadership within SAE.

Strzelec is chair of the SAE Powertrain, Fuels & Lubricants Activity, which she is leading through a reorganization to be inclusive of the eclectic technology mix that will be needed in the future automotive industry.

Strzelec has also been selected to the 2022 Top Contributor class for SAE, which recognized her as “a true leader and a valuable, trusted member of (SAE’s) committees.”

In addition, Strzelec has appointments as an associate scientist in both the mechanical engineering and engineering physics departments at UW-Madison, and in the past year, she has been awarded $3.5 million in U.S. Department of Energy funding from both the Vehicle Technologies Office and the Nuclear Engineering University Program.
