September 2, 2025 Trio among finalists for 2025 Wisconsin Innovation Awards Written By: Staff Departments: Electrical & Computer Engineering|Mechanical Engineering|Nuclear Engineering & Engineering Physics Categories: Awards The list of finalists for the Wisconsin Technology Council’s 2025 Wisconsin Innovation Awards includes three companies with ties to the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering. C-Motive Technologies, co-founded by Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Dan Ludois and alumnus Justin Reed (MSEE ’07, PhDEE ’14), is commercializing high-efficiency electrostatic motor technology. Realta Fusion, whose co-founders include Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics faculty Oliver Schmitz and Ben Lindley, continues to develop compact fusion energy systems. Re Mixers, whose president and CEO is alumnus Eric Ronning (BSME ’15), creates static mixers for dispensing adhesives. Fellow graduate Lukas Duddleston (MSME ’15) is the company’s chief operating officer. Two UW-Madison organizations that have partnered with Badger engineers to commercialize their research over the years, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation and Discovery to Product, are also among the finalists. The winners will be announced Nov. 4, 2025, at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison.
