The American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) honored Materials Science and Engineering Professor Xudong Wang as one of the nation’s top-two percent of medical and biological engineers by electing him a fellow. The election is among the highest professional distinctions in medical and biological engineering, honoring those who have pioneered new and developing fields of technology, made major advancements in traditional fields, or developed and implemented innovative approaches to bioengineering education. Wang’s research, which includes applications of energy-harvesting materials for wound-healing and weight loss, exemplifies those extraordinary qualities. Wang was inducted at a ceremony during the AIMBE annual meeting at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D.C., on March 25, 2019.
