Alumnus Nelson Tansu named IEEE Fellow

University of Wisconsin-Madison electrical and computer engineering alumnus Nelson Tansu was recently named a 2021 IEEE Fellow for his contributions to semiconductor and photonics technologies.

Tansu earned his bachelor’s degree in 1998 and his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2003. He was recently named Head of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Professor in Quantum Electronics at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.

The IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization and confers the grade of fellow on persons with an outstanding record of accomplishment in the fields it covers. It is considered the highest grade of membership and is a prestigious honor among its 400,000 members.
