UW–Madison’s online engineering graduate programs maintain top 10 ranking by U.S. News & World Report

Written By: Staff

The University of Wisconsin–Madison ranked seventh among schools offering high-quality online graduate engineering programs by U.S. News & World Report. UW–Madison has ranked in the top 10 since 2010.

This important distinction was announced today as U.S. News & World Report released its most recent ranking of online masters of engineering degree programs, which require eligible programs to pass rigorous standards for quality education in the areas of faculty credentials and training, student services and technology, peer reputation, student engagement, and admissions selectivity.

“We draw students from all over the world,” said Professor James Tinjum, director of UW-Madison’s Online Graduate Engineering Degree Programs. “For example, we had a student working in Antarctica complete his Sustainable Systems Engineering degree, where he was able to apply his learning directly to his work.”

Graduates of UW-Madison’s programs have also seen immediate success on the job, including new inventions, Tinjum added.

“A recent Engine Systems graduate designed a new lawnmower engine that increases fuel efficiency by requiring just one oil change per season,” he said. “Other graduates have earned patents for their work.”

The complete portfolio of online Master of Engineering and Master of Science degree programs include:

  • Electrical Engineering: Power Electronics
  • Engine Systems
  • Engineering Data Analytics
  • Engineering Management
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Manufacturing Systems
  • Mechanical Engineering: Controls
  • Mechanical Engineering: Polymer Engineering and Science
  • Sustainable Systems Engineering
