Undergraduate student advising

Academic Advisors

If you’re an undergraduate engineering student, then we’ve assigned you an academic advisor. That person supports you in a variety of ways, including:

  • Aiding you on your educational journey and helping you to ensure that you meet our academic standards
  • Exploring degree and certificate options and helping you find a good fit for you program and interests
  • Discussing your interests and skills and how you can apply these to extracurricular experiences
  • Working through your personal and academic challenges and connecting you to the support resources you need

You can meet with advisors throughout the semesters and even on breaks! You can find your advisor in your MyUW Student Center and make an appointment using Starfish.

Freshman undergraduate students

Advising for you as a freshman undergraduate student is especially important. Your advisor helps you become familiar with specific first-year requirements, explore engineering majors, and make sure you have the support you need during this big transition.

College of engineering rules and regulations

Advisors also help you navigate official regulations related to your enrollment, scholarship and graduation.

Academics are important throughout your engineering career, so remember you’ll need to meet progression requirements to continue advancing through your educational program.
