Kevin Eliceiri, an associate professor of biomedical engineering and medical physics, has been elected a fellow by The Optical Society.

Eliceiri, a leader in computational imaging technology, earned recognition “for outstanding research in cellular microenvironment imaging and bio-image informatics,” according to the society.

He also holds the Retina Research Foundation Walter H. Helmerich Research Chair at the McPherson Eye Research Institute, of which he’s an associate director, among a bevy of roles across the UW-Madison campus. He’s also a three-time UW-Madison alumnus.

The society limits fellow status to no more than 10% of its membership to honor outstanding work in optics and photonics.
