The American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) has included Frank Rath among its honorary members in 2022. Rath, a faculty associate emeritus who worked in the then-Department of Engineering Professional Development (now InterPro), is an expert in applying engineering principles and tools to improve product design, lower risk, and reduce manufacturing cost and lead time, particularly in the biotechnology industry.

Honorary membership in the association recognizes people who understand the value of a medical physicist and the profession of medical physics as an integral and indispensable part of patient care, and who have consistently supported the mission and goals of the association through leadership and advocacy. Rath accepted the honor on July 11, 2022, at an AAPM awards ceremony and reception in Washington, D.C.
